The centerpiece of Japanese designer Hiroki Nakamura’s Toyko home is an original JBL Paragon D44000, one of roughly 1000 ever produced. At the time of manufacture in 1957 they were the most expensive domestic speaker ever sold.

In a New York Times profile he explains: “Our house in Tokyo is 250 years old. In this room I listen to first-press vinyl — Zeppelin, Neil Young, Rolling Stones — on my JBL Paragon sound system.”
